Climate Action

At Salama Centre, we recognize the profound link between climate resilience and community wellbeing—especially in conflict-affected regions where vulnerable populations face compounding risks. Our Climate Action initiative is rooted in the belief that environmental degradation, displacement, and poverty are interconnected challenges that require holistic, people-centered solutions. We prioritize climate-responsive programming that integrates mental health, economic recovery, and social inclusion, ensuring that no one is left behind in the race for environmental sustainability.

Through community education, green skills development, and eco-friendly vocational training, Salama Centre empowers youth, women, and returnees to become agents of environmental change. Our vocational programs now include training on renewable energy systems (such as solar installation), sustainable agriculture techniques, and upcycling of materials. These interventions not only promote environmental stewardship but also enhance income generation and food security, especially for internally displaced persons (IDPs) and host communities whose livelihoods have been eroded by climate shocks and insecurity.

In partnership with local institutions, state agencies, and civil society networks, Salama also engages in climate advocacy, tree planting campaigns, and waste management sensitization. We are committed to mainstreaming climate adaptation across all our programs—whether it’s designing gender-sensitive disaster response strategies or promoting trauma-informed eco-healing spaces. Our goal is to build climate-smart, peaceful communities where healing and environmental justice go hand in hand. At Salama, climate action is not a separate agenda—it is an essential pillar of resilience, dignity, and recovery.
