Helping Today
Helping Tommorow

The Salama Centre for Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) was established in response to the urgent need for trauma recovery in Northeast Nigeria, a region severely affected by the Boko Haram insurgency, displacement, and ongoing humanitarian crises. Founded in Maiduguri, Borno State, Salama Centre began as a safe and inclusive space dedicated to healing emotional and psychological wounds within conflict-impacted communities.

Salama Centre has supported thousands of internally displaced persons (IDPs), survivors of gender-based violence, children and adolescents, and persons with disabilities, providing direct counseling, group therapy, social reintegration programs, and livelihood support. By promoting both individual and community resilience, Salama plays a crucial role in rebuilding trust, fostering peace, and restoring stability in the region. Today, Salama Centre in Maiduguri stands as a beacon of hope and a leader in community-driven MHPSS interventions in Northeast Nigeria. We remain committed to helping individuals transform trauma into resilience—and rebuilding lives with purpose and dignity.

Our Strategic Goal (2024–2031)

Salama Centre for Social Services
A Vision Rooted in Resilience

The goal of the Salama Centre Strategic Plan (2024–2031) is to expand Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Services (MHPSS) into a fully functional and sustainable intervention platform for Northeast Nigeria. Guided by the vision of JDPC Maiduguri, the strategy positions Salama Centre as a standalone hub for both specialized and non-specialized MHPSS services across the BAY (Borno, Adamawa, Yobe) region.

Over the next seven years, the Centre aims to provide scalable MHPSS interventions that are not only life-saving during conflict, but also life-building in recovery and peacebuilding phases.
