Peace Building

The Peace Building Program at Salama Centre is rooted in our commitment to restoring trust, dialogue, and shared humanity across communities fractured by conflict, displacement, and trauma. We understand that healing cannot occur in isolation, and that sustainable peace requires intentional engagement, truth-telling, and inclusive dialogue.

Through this program, we provide platforms for community healing, intergenerational conversations, and the rebuilding of social capital among youth, women, traditional leaders, and conflict-affected groups. Our interventions include community reconciliation dialogues, peace clubs for adolescents, interfaith forums, and cultural restoration events that reconnect people with their identity and values. We support survivors and returnees in their journey back into society, not just through acceptance, but through active roles in rebuilding cohesion. By integrating trauma-informed approaches and indigenous conflict resolution methods, the program ensures that peace building is locally owned, contextually relevant, and inclusive of marginalized voices especially women and youth.

In collaboration with local authorities, other organisations and grassroots networks, Salama Centre promotes policies and practices that prevent violence and foster mutual respect. Our peace ambassadors and trained facilitators lead initiatives that challenge stigma, break cycles of revenge, and foster empathy across divides. At Salama, peace building is not just about conflict resolution, it is about creating conditions for justice, dignity, and resilience to flourish across generations.
